Missouri Hog Farmer

Kenny Brinker

“Because we take care of our animals the way that we do, we pride ourselves in that we’re supplying a very safe, nutritious, affordable food product for our families, and for the other consumers in this country.”

Kenny Brinker
Hog Farmer

Name: Kenny Brinker
Location: Auxvasse, Missouri
Years farming: I’ve been farming for 39 years.
My family: My wife is Susan, our daughter is Amanda, and our sons are Travis and Cody.
How I came to be a farmer: I took over our family farm when my father retired, and I hope to be able to do the same thing with my sons.
The best thing about being a farmer: I really enjoy working with family members on a daily basis.
My personal philosophy on farming: It’s a great way to make a living, and I take personal satisfaction that we are actually producing something that a lot of people enjoy, that also benefits our economy.

Pork Production in Missouri and the U.S.
  • By raising pigs indoors, pork producers are able to keep their pigs warm during Missouri’s frigid winters and cool during the summers.
  • It's no secret that Missouri has thousands of hardworking families dedicated to raising hogs for a living. Pork producers are concerned about air and water quality because they live here, too.
  • There are eight cuts of pork with less than 200 calories per serving.
  • The U.S. pork industry marketed more than 121 million hogs in 2008.
