Ohio Turkey Farmer

Ken Stammen

“I don't think there's any better way to raise children than to work side by side with them on a daily basis on a family farm.”

Ken Stammen
Turkey Farmer

Name: Ken Stammen
Location: New Weston, Ohio
Years farming: I have been a farmer for 29 years.
My family: My wife is Ann, our first son Adam is 23, Bethany is 21, Daniel is 20, and Jacob is 17.
How I came to be a farmer: Growing up, I always enjoyed working on our family farm and it was a natural fit to become a full-time fourth generation family farmer when my father decided to retire in the early 80s.
The best thing about being a farmer: It is very rewarding to see the fruits of your labor, whether it is watching your crops grow throughout the summer, or raising a healthy flock of turkeys.
My personal philosophy on farming: I once read a quote something like "Life is full of challenges."
